He was born on August 15th, 1845, at Nymphenburg Palace, Munich.
Please see also my visual documentary of Nymphenburg Palace ( http://bit.ly/RRFzWj  ).
He was king until 1886 -- he died on June 13th, 1886, at Lake Starnberg (south of Munich).

Neuschwanstein is one of the 'blueprints' for Disney's Cinderella Castle.
Neuschwanstein Castle is may be the most famous palace in Germany -- right next to it, just a few minutes away, Hohenschwangau Palace (or Castle) is located.
Hohenschwangau Castle, a Neo-Gothic style palace, was the childhood residence of Ludwig II. He lived here also while building his own castle (Neuschwanstein) -- construction started 1869 and was completed 1882.
